Awhile back we went as a family to the driving range one evening. It was a beautiful night...




Trey hasn't been since last year so it was quite a different experience this time. Luckily we had the place to ourselves.

U Pick Flowers:)

A couple of weeks ago Trey and I went with the Bone Family to an adorable flower farm in Pullman. This couple has all this land with flowers for customers to pick their own flower boutiques.



They provide containers to collect all your flowers in. They even give you flower food packets for you to take home. I love that small town feel because they have a money box where you just put your money when your done. No one to collect your money just a honor system. Olny $7 for as many flowers as you can collect in their buckets.

It was a fun little adventure and I am so glad I found this place. I already have been back for my 4th of July flower decorations.

Feeding Update:)

This is a long blog post so I apologize. But I have so much exciting news to share.

Wow!!! A lot has changed for Trey since my last feeding update at the beginning of May. Great news to report. Since we have adjusted Trey's reflux medications he has had a huge decrease in reflux episodes. He will occasionally have a few here or there but nothing like we were experiencing back in May.

And because of this improvement and continued therapy the last month or so Trey has made huge improvements with his eating progress. He has been willing to at least TASTE pretty much everything we place in front of him these days. Sometimes after tasting it will move to licking food and if we are really lucky he will chew the food. This may seem minuscule to some but for our Trey this is huge. We are talking a year ago barely tolerating having food in front of him. Our biggest obstacle is still his willingness to swallow food.

I know I have shared before my realization that this journey for Trey is going to be a very slow one. But I know he is going to eventually get there on his own time.

I also started looking and researching on more therapy options for Trey. Not that what we are currently receiving isn't phenomenal. But of course as a parent you want every opportunity for your child to succeed. So Trey's main therapist and his wonderful GI crew at Mary Bridge helped me find an encouraging intensive feeding program at Seattle Children's Hospital.


So this is a two week intensive feeding program where Trey would receive 5 or 6 oral feedings/day with tube feedings to follow. The tube feeding therapy may include a behavioral program to enforce the target feeding behavior.

Trey's current tube feedings would be decreased by approximately 25% every 3 days under the supervision of a dietitian. Trey's medical therapy feeding program team would include...

1. Family
2. Nurse Practitioner
3. Dietitian
4. Occupational Therapist
5. Behavioral Psychologist
6. Referring Primary Care Provider

Our main therapist, GI doctor and myself have already been in touch with the therapist at Seattle Children's who runs the program and she thinks Trey would be a perfect fit. There are just a few more criteria that Trey must meet before our targeted two week therapy session in October. And hopefully everything with insurance will go smoothly (waiting for our approval as we speak).

Trey and I would be staying at the Ronald McDonald house for the 2 weeks by the Children's campus since we have to attend so many sessions during the day.

We are super encouraged that this program along with our current therapy will hopefully help Trey get over the big hump of swallowing and weaning from his G-tube feeds.

Grandparent's Come For A Visit

My parents came into town this past Saturday and left this morning for a Montana fishing trip. It was perfect timing because Curtis has been on a long recruiting trip since the 5th and doesn't return home until Friday (so excited). So it was a wonderful way to break up having our main guy away for so long.

Trey and I of course had a wonderful time with them. They got to see our new deck addition, go to Trey's favorite place these days, the Aquatic Center and just relax and have fun with Mr. Trey.

First Day Of Preschool :)

Success!!! Trey had an amazing first day in his new preschool class. I was a little nervous when I dropped him off because it was another classmate's first day and she was pretty upset about her parent's leaving which seemed to leave Trey a little uneasy. But he adjusted well after we talked about what was going on with his new friend. After that he was great when I told him I was leaving and would be coming back later.

His teacher's reported it was a wonderful first day for him. Her words were "It's like he has been in the class forever". When I returned to pick him up he was excited to see me but not excited enough to stop playing on the slide with his new buddies.

He was all smiles and Mr. Chatter box the whole ride home. So proud of the little guy. I think Mommy obviously had a harder time than Mr. Trey:)

Visiting New Pre-School Class

The Allen Family is super excited because Trey has finally come off the waiting list to join a preschool class called Bright Beginnings through his therapy services. It is a classroom with a maximum of 8 children and he will attend 2 days a week from 9-12.

I think the transition will be easy one for the little man because it is in the same room where we go for group feeding therapy every week and one of his therapist is the the main teacher. Which is wonderful because they are aware of Trey's severe food allergies and feeding struggles (update coming soon).


We visited the preschool class for the first time last Friday. Trey absolutely loved it. We did a short trial of me leaving the room while I met with his main teacher and therapy coordinator. He could have cared less if I left and was so sad when it was time to go home.

Trey will attend preschool on Monday and Friday independently and I will stay with him at feeding therapy on Wednesday. I think this will be a nice schedule for him. I am excited for Trey to experience this new little chapter in his life. A little teary that my little boy is growing up. But I think it is important for Trey to learn to have a little time away from his Mommy and some great self care time for me.
