"Oh No!!!"

These past couple of days Trey has been battling a cold. We have had tissue boxes scattered all over the house to help with Trey's faucet of a runny nose. So this above picture was bound to happen at some point. It's funny how the simplest of things can be so entertaining for a little one.

So I thought I would give a food update for Mr. Trey since it has been quite awhile since I have done that. Trey is doing much better with drinking different variety of liquids. He especially loves drinking water out of a sippie cup now. He still isn't taking enough volume to decrease his tube feedings yet. As far as food intake Trey has good and bad days. We are still struggling with introducing new foods. He is very comfortable with just a limited few and we seem to be stuck there at the moment. But he is beginning to request for them which is new.

At Trey's 18 month checkup I mentioned that we were slightly concerned about his speech development. I wanted him to be screened to make sure we weren't falling behind in that area of development. So our pediatrician referred us to Early Learning Intervention, which in Washington State is collection of services families may need for their infants or toddlers with disabilities.

So Trey had two screenings done to look at how he is learning and growing. They evaluated different areas of his development.
-cognitive
-physical
-communication
-social or emotional
-adaptive : ability to dress, eat and take of yourself

Trey was only eligible for services in the adaptive area due to his feeding issues. So next week we meet with a speech and occupational therapist, a Family Resource Coordinator and a representative from the Pullman School District to come up with an individualized plan and set goals for Trey around achieving feeding success. We are excited because these new services will be provided in Pullman. No more long trips to Spokane. And for the first time Pullman is starting a small feeding group for children around Trey's age struggling with different feeding issues. So the group will practice different food strategies and the children will practice eating together. I am anxious to get to know some other parents who are going through a similar situation.

So Trey will start individual and group therapy next week. I will keep you posted on how things are going.

We are hoping this cold clears up soon so we can enjoy the last little bit of warm weather this weekend. Hope everyone is doing well:)

Trey's First Fort!!!

This past weekend we had some very windy and rainy weather so Curtis had a great idea to set up a fort for Trey for some new entertainment. Trey was so excited. He was screaming and jumping around everywhere. We could hardly contain his excitement over this new adventure.
Of course when his fort came down after a few days there were tears but we told Trey there will be many more to come:)

Grandparent Day at the Library!!!

Last week my dad come into town for a visit. It just so happened that the library was honoring grandparents that week. Our normal story and music time was cancelled for the celebration. Sweet little Trey didn't understand why Kathleen the children's librarian wasn't singing all his favorite songs this session. The time was geared more toward reading books about grandparents. Trey kept hitting his knees for his welcome song that he loves and doing "more" in sign language to Kathleen. Poor little guy was so disappointed.

It was a fun visit as always. My Dad got to spend some time with Jay while he was here. He was a big help around the house. Trey loved his time with him.

A Great Afternoon at Reaney Park :)

A couple weekends ago we took Trey to a different park in Pullman. Sad we just visited this park for the first time now that the seasons will be changing. It was a great family outing.

A Day at the Museum:)

A couple of weeks ago Trey and I with our friend, Chelsea Bone went to the Palouse Discovery Science Center. This was our first time visiting there. They had animal exhibits, teaching stations and a lot of activities that emphasized hands on learning for children. Trey was hesitant with some things but overall had a good time.

Trey's Little Feathered Friends:)

Trey has finally gotten down how to feed the ducks by our house. These ducks are pretty fearless. They come up on the grass and totally surround you for food. Trey was pretty cute with them.

Moving Uncle Jay In :)

A couple of weeks ago my parents and I helped my brother Jay move into his dorm at WSU. I still can't believe my little brother is a college man. I think he is adjusting well into school and learning to be on his own.

During the move Trey loved climbing all over everything...

Flight Cancelled

When we flew up to Tacoma a couple weeks ago our flight on the way back got cancelled due to fog. So instead of waiting over 8 hours in the airport we got to take a fun unexpected detour to my grandparents house (they live not too far from Seatac).

Trey had a great time!! I feel so blessed that Mr. Trey gets a chance to know his wonderful great-grandparents and experience all of the love and fun I had as a child.
